DNA and George Washington's Family
From the FamilyTreeDNA Blog: FamilyTreeDNA collaborated with the Armed Forces DNA Identification Laboratory, a division of the Armed Forces Medical Examiner System (AFMES-AFDIL), on an exciting historical DNA study that helped identify the unmarked graves of Samuel Washington’s descendants at the Harewood Cemetery in Charles Town, West Virginia.

Now that I have your attention: In 1922, a fire at the Dublin Public Records Office destroyed countless records of value to genealogists. But there is a surprising source of possible substitutes: the employee records at Guinness, which are surprisingly thorough. If you have an Irish connection, it might be worth giving them a look, compliments of Guinness Brewery.
